Japanese Bamboo Bracelet Kit

This stylish bracelet is made using the beautiful chain maille  weave “Japanese 12 in 2.” Our very good friend Diane says it reminds her of bamboo, stacked and bound together, so we just had to call this kit “Japanese Bamboo.” This style is sometimes known as “Japanese Lace.” This bracelet will look fabulous with either jeans or a fancy outfit. This enjoyable chain maille project is not difficult, and although some mailling experience would be an advantage it isn’t absolutely necessary.  

Japanese 12 in 2 is a “sheet weave” that can be made as wide as you like. Therefore, when you have mastered this technique, you can make a gorgeous 2 row bracelet as in this kit, or a wider, striking cuff. This weave lends itself very well to the creation of geometric shapes such as diamonds, triangles and hexagons. The possibilities are endless - just let your imagination run riot!

Included in this kit are sufficient sterling silver jump rings in four sizes and a sterling silver toggle clasp to make a fabulous 2 row bracelet up to 9 inches in length. This kit contains very easy to follow step by step instructions with clear diagrams and explanatory colour photographs.

In addition to the kit all you need are two pairs of smooth jawed pliers and a surface to work on, for example a beading mat or a piece of velvet. A useful pick is included in the kit.

Skill level: beginner - although knowledge of at least one other weave would be ideal.
